Helloooooo Everyone! It’s me, Reggie.

You’ll never guess where I am! I’m in my very own home in a new state called Jersey! I’VE BEEN ADOPTED!! I’m so happy. I have a human momma and daddy and brother and a doggie sister named Daisy! She’s real cool, but I’m the boss! Ha ha… We’ve been having so much fun. I run after her, she runs away…I chase her, she runs away. It’s great!

But let me backup and give you the whole story. Thanks to all my friends and supporters out there, I was able to have reconstructive surgery on my hip. The operation was a success and my mobility is much better…good enough to chase my sister around! It doesn’t hurt anymore either. After the surgery, the Animal League sent out an email to people telling them that I was almost ready for adoption. Lots of people applied, and the perfect family for me was selected!

Then when I was waiting for my new daddy to pick me up in his cool truck, I had to have a bath. I’ll be honest – I’m not wild about baths and I’m even less wild about the dryer, but it was important for me to look my best for my new family. I wanted to make a good impression, so I took a deep breath and took my grooming like a man. Men whine in the tub, don’t they?

So now, I’m home. I’m living it up, too and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much to the Animal League and all the loving and caring people out there. So many people gave me so much love. Animal League, I owe you one!

That’s all for now everyone. Thanks for your support and I’ll see ya next time!

Love Always…

Hi everyone. Great news: it’s almost time for me to go up for adoption! Wow. It’s been quite a journey for me here at the Animal League. They’ve taken super care of me since I was a puppy. Now, I’m a whole year old, I’ve had corrective surgery and I’m getting ready to go to my very own home.

North Shore Animal League America wants to make sure I go to a family that can take care of my special needs, so they’ve put together some information and tips to make sure that me and my new family will be the perfect match!

Here are some things potential adopters should know about me…

I need exercise! I’m a terrier mix, and like most terriers, we’re very active. We have lots of energy and like to keep it movin! Because of my operation, I may have a few restrictions at first. You’ll need to work with my vet to see what my limitations are, and I’ll need regular checkups on my hip, too. It’s important to remember that a well-exercised doggie is a healthy and happy doggie.

I love other dogs! Let me at ‘em. I’ll play with just about any dog - puppies, small dogs and dogs much larger than me. I love to wrestle and play rough so, again, we’ll have to ask my vet about any play limitations for my safety. I like kids, too, but over the age of 12, please.

I LOVE to chew! Chewing is one of my favorite things. I love chew sticks, small Kong toys and Nyla bones. It’s important to make sure that I have appropriate things to chew so I don’t wander off and chew things I’m not supposed to. Some things I shouldn’t chew are those soft toys like stuffed animals or tennis balls ‘cause I can easily shred them. Then I may get tempted to eat the pieces, and that’s no good! Another good idea is to change up my toys frequently to keep me interested.

I LOVE my crate! In the beginning, until I get used to my new surroundings, it’s best to keep me in my crate when I’m unsupervised. My crate makes me feel safe – just like a doggie den. I can hang out with my toys in there and take naps. It will keep me out of trouble when no one’s home. Eventually, when I get a little older, we can leave the crate door open – or I may not even need a crate at all.

I am making progress with housebreaking! Yay! I can pee and poop outside, especially off leash in a securely fenced area. But I shouldn’t be taken off leash outside of a fenced area because I get easily distracted and have been known to bolt after things that I’m interested in. When I’m on a leash, I prefer a harness because I have a tendency to put the brakes on whenever I feels like it (I think this is funny!). The harness keeps me secure so my collar doesn’t slip over my head!

I love to sleep in a dog bed! I also love to snuggle in a friendly lap. Playtime is good, but so is snuggle time. Sometimes, I tend to do naughty things to get attention. I just love attention. But don’t worry, I also love positive reinforcement, so it’s best to give me plenty of attention when I’m being GOOD rather than when I’m being naughty! (A little psychology goes a long way).

That’s about it. That’s all it takes. I can’t wait to show you what a good dog I am. So if you would like to adopt me, please contact KristineF@AnimalLeague.org

I can’t wait to meet you!

Dear everybody,

First of all, I’d like to say thanks for all your cool comments on my blog. Everyone says such neat and sweet stuff…it really makes a pup feel good – especially when he needs it. I’m not that much different than everybody else. I have days that I feel great and I have days where having wobbly legs gets me a little down. I want to run and play and jump and stay out all day, but I have to take breaks to rest my legs. All of your comments and support really make a difference, so thanks bunches and keep’m comin.

One thing I’ve noticed in my blog comments is that people like to ask me questions. They ask me what my favorite treat is, what I dream about, and what I like to do for fun. Well, one thing I like in particular is my favorite TV show – Jeopardy! Yup – I love the music that plays when people are thinking. I go right up to the TV real close – so close that everything is out of focus and I try to see the music. So far, I haven’t seen it, but I’m going to keep trying.

Anyway, I thought it might be fun to play Jeopardy with you! So here is the answer, you try to guess, and then watch the video to learn the right question – Jeopardy-style! Fun, huh? Hee Hee

Answer:	My new favorite toy.

Question:	What is a…

Did you get it right? Did you hear music when you were thinking? Ok guys – I’ll catch up with you later, it’s almost time for…can you guess what it’s almost time for? DINNER!

See you next time!

Love, Reggie Trebek

The sun was high in the sky and I had to…pee. I did my usual pee pee dance to let it be known that I had to go out. Ahhh, what beautiful weather. As I finished my business and moseyed around the grass, I noticed that something seemed…different. Something was…amiss.

The lawn felt soft and squishy – just how I like it. The sun was warm on my back, and I could hear the chirps and squalls of birds up in the trees. That’s when it happened. As I lowered my head to receive a pee-mail that someone left me on a bush, SWOOSH! A bird swooped out of the tree and dive-bombed me! I picked up my head – but there was no bird in sight. I looked to the right and to the left…everything seemed still.

Then it happened again…SWOOSH! This bird was out to get me. What did I do? I didn’t even know that bird. Was it the bird’s bush? I looked up to see where it was coming from and SWOOSH SWOOSH! I thought, “I’m getting out of here!” I scurried away but the bird kept coming – he was mad. Luckily, I made my way to safety.

Later, as I was recounting my tale of terror, I found out that birds are actually in the dinosaur family! A flying dinosaur tried to eat me! Well, he really didn’t try to eat me, but he pecked my butt! Apparently, he was protecting a nest of baby dinosaurs or something. Either way, I survived and am here to tell my story.

I learned a very important lesson that daunting day: peeing on bushes is for the birds.

Love,

Reggie
I had a tough day today – I went to work! Yup, that’s right. I spent the day in the office with some of my friends at the Animal League. Going to the office is tough work. I had a bed and a bunch of toys and I played non-stop! Everyone who passed by wanted to play with me and stopped to give me hugs and snugs. I got so excited…I had a little accident. But that’s ok, it happens. I’m just a pup after all – not even one year old yet!

Know what? There’s a whole day dedicated to bringing your dog to work. It’s June 26th, and it’s called ”National Take Your Dog to Work Day”. If you don’t believe me, click here, and you’ll see! People actually bring their doggies to work and they have play dates. It’s the neatest!

Look how professional I look in my picture! I think I might just start my own company – Reggie, Inc. What does Inc. mean anyway? I don’t know. In my company, I’ll hire lots of dogs and cats. The dogs will be in charge, and the cats will have to do what we say. Hahaha! My office will be filled with toys and snacks and I’ll have a doggie door that leads to a fluffy patch of grass for when I need to…ya know.

Well, I better go get a good night’s sleep so tomorrow I can start working on building my empire. Who knows? It just might work! Wow - a day in the office was really inspiring!

Love,

Reggie, Inc.

The weather is getting warmer here where I live and the grass is getting greener…and you know what that means – GRASS WIGGLES!

I was just telling Nibble that there’s nothing like a good wiggle in the grass to get all those good hard-to-reach itches. Ahh, I love it. I wiggle, Nibble by my side, and my ears flopping around. What more could a young doggie want? Speaking of my ears…know what? My ears grew! My ears are big and floppy and I love to feel them flapping around.

So, the other day, I was wiggling and flapping in the grass. The sun felt warm and bright and I couldn’t help myself, I just fell asleep with my legs up in the air and open – soooo comfortable. I was so relaxed that I started to dream. I was dreaming that I was in a big open green field. The grass was kinda high. I could see over it, but just barely. In the dream, I was running and jumping. It was so much fun. I was hopping up and down and loving my ears flapping against me. And then I saw it…a bunny. Normally, when I see a bunny, I know I can’t catch it cause my legs are still a little wobbly. But I must’ve known I was dreaming ‘cause I just started running and running – bam! I chased that fuzzy little critter all over.

You won’t believe what happened next! The bunny stopped, turned around and looked at me. There we were – just inches apart. I have to admit, the bunny was awfully cute. I kind of felt bad for chasing him – he was so little and furry and he had big, brown eyes that were so sweet. The bunny hopped closer to me. THEN… the weirdest thing happened. The bunny pulled a blade of grass out of the ground and started tickling my tummy with it! Tickle tickle, tickle tickle. It felt so fun and happy, I fell over on my back laughing as he continued to tickle my belly.

Then I woke up! When I opened my eyes, my foster momma was standing above me tickling my belly! I was wiggling and squirming in the grass – it felt so good.

Ahhh, I sure do love grass wiggles. See you next time!

Love, Reggie

The other day, momma brought me into the Animal League to say hi to everyone. As we were heading in, I saw someone with a cat. The cat was in a plastic box with holes in it instead of walking on the ground on a leash like I do. Momma said it was a cat carrier box. It’s kinda like a car for cats. It got me thinking…cats are kind of interesting. They’re not like us dogs. They meow instead of bark, and they’d rather play with a mouse than with a dog. They even make a strange purr sound when someone scratches their head.

Yup – now that I have my own pad, I can ponder cool things – things like:

•	Do I want a liver snap or a chicken treat?

•	Do cats think?

•	Why are squirrels so appealing to me?

•	Why am I sometimes stricken with an uncontrollable urge to roll on my back with my legs in the air?

Maybe I should write a book of cool things to think about – what do you think? Feel free to ask me a question!

Talk to you soon.
Love, Reggie

There comes a time in a puppy’s life where his mind and body grows and matures and Mother Nature gently caresses his face – bidding a fond farewell to his puppyhood and lovingly welcomes his new place in this world – a place where he has more responsibilities – to himself, to the earth and to mankind – where he leaves innocence behind as he moves out of his house, starts a family of his own and looks in the mirror to find…… an adult dog.

What?! Ummm…well thank goodness for me that hasn’t happened yet! Whew! I mean…that sounds stressful. Just thinking about it made me bury my face in Nibble and take a lil’ bite – hee hee. Then I rolled onto my back with Nibble still dangling from my mouth and started wiggling on the floor! Ahhh, that’s better.

But really, I am seeing changes in myself. I’m bigger than I used to be – my ears are bigger, my body is longer and I get to do more neat stuff. For example, I get to go outside now. I have all my shots and can go outdoors on the ground and feel the delicious squish of the grass on my paw pads. There are so many amazing sights and smells out there; it makes me want to run!

Speaking of wanting to run, my legs have been getting less wobbly. I can walk some without falling over every time now…but I need to take breaks often. So I walk a few feet and then I sit down…walk a few more feet…sit down. My human momma laughs and says I look really cute.

I’m getting older now and have been having some big boy thoughts. It’s time for me to move into a bigger place. Momma and the Chihuahuas are great, but Momma needs a break and she has a friend who wants to take me into her home where I would have my own bedroom as well as the entire house! I’m considering making the move. Nibble and I need more space and it’s the right, big boy thing to do. I’m a big boy now and it’s time to start acting like one…now where’s my wee wee pad? I have to tinkle.

I have to go now (if you know what I mean) but I’ll be back soon – and maybe even from my new home.

See ya guys!

Hey hey! You know what’s great about having your own blog? You get to talk about whatever you want! Today, I want to talk about crates.

I have a crate and I LOVE IT! My human momma leaves the door open and I like to go in and out. I go in the crate and then I go out the crate…in the crate…and then out the crate. Then, when I’m tired from all the back and forth, I take a nap in it! I don’t have to go in there, and sometimes I don’t, but I love it. It’s like a place to call my own – Reggie’s Crate! I have blankets and pillows and toys and it’s so comfy in there. I even have a roommate. His name is Nibble. Know why his name is nibble? Cause I love to nibble on him and carry him all over the house and back to my crate. He takes naps with me and we discuss important topics like snacks and if I get scared at night, Nibble is always there to make me feel better. He sure is a pal.

In fact I think I’ll go grab Nibble now and bury him in under some blankets for safe-keeping. See ya later – 10-4 – over and out!

Love,

Reggie

Hey everyone. My name is Reggie, and I’m a baby dog. You may know me already. Did you read my story? I was born at North Shore Animal League America with my brothers and sisters and mama. But now that I’m old enough to be without my doggie mama, I live on my own – with my new human mommy!! Ha ha. And you’re not gonna believe this – but I have two new adoptive doggie brothers and two new adoptive doggie sisters too! You may remember them – they are four Chihuahuas and all of them are missing their front legs. They’re kinda famous – their names are Carmen, Venus, Pablo and Scooter. Since I have problems with my back legs, my new mommy decided to take me home. She said that her home is already set up nice and soft and cushioned, so what’s one more doggie in the mix, right?

The Animal League told me that lots of people liked my story. So we thought I should write a little blog to let people know how I’m doing. So here I am!! Bingo, bango, bongo – my blog! I’m going to call it, “Reggie’s Blog: The View From Down Here” since I’m so tiny. Hee hee.

You know, I’m really happy in my new home. My brothers and sisters accepted me right away and we play all day and then take naps and eat snacks. It’s a really cool life, and I have you and the Animal League to thank for it. So if you’re interested, stay tuned to my blog and we can be friends! **Yawwwwwwn** Wow, that first entry made me pooped. I think it’s time to take a nap now. I’m going to see if anyone wants to take a cuddle-nap. I’ll talk to ya later!

Love, Reggie
